Solar Chautauqua is a community outreach campaign organized by the Chautauqua County Department of Planning and Economic Development (CCPED) and supported by several local groups and community organizations. Between the months of October 2017 and March 2018, homes, farms, and businesses in Chautauqua County will have the opportunity to purchase solar energy at a discounted price. This below market rate will be offered by Solar Liberty, the installer we selected after a thorough prequalification process. You can reduce your energy expenses and carbon footprint by choosing solar!
The first phase of Solar Chautauqua was launched in March of 2016 and was a community-led initiative established by the Coalition to Solarize Chautauqua County and Chautauqua Citizens Respond to Climate Crisis (CCRCC). The campaign worked to raise awareness of solar energy in several communities, with a focus on Northern Chautauqua County. The second phase of Solar Chautauqua is being launched to continue the work of the original campaign and expand solar energy opportunities to other parts of the county.
Expanding the presence of solar in Chautauqua County is a way that community members and businesses can continue to adapt and save money, while reducing their carbon footprint and responding to the threats of climate change. Municipalities in the county have recently taken steps to encourage and guide the development of solar and other forms of clean energy. Many community members are becoming more aware of the potential of solar energy and it is our goal to harness this enthusiasm and propel the county toward a more sustainable future!
